Cuisinart DCC-1150 Very Pleased
By G. Palmer [December 11, 2011, 5:24 am]I have owned this coffee maker for about a month now. In the past I've gone with the inexpensive coffee makers. This time I decided to step up a bit to this coffee maker. Seems to be worth it to me. Coffee is kept warm for a long time without being burned. I find burned coffee to be disgusting and this is a big selling point for me. I also do not consider the size to be objectionable, it is a convenient size for me and smaller than many other models. I keep it under my counter, pull it out when I brew and slide it in when I'm finished. Works like a charm. I did receive the gold tone filter with my maker, I still use the paper filters since the gold filter is not fine enough for my choice of grind. This is not a negative, it is a standard filter, I use a fine grind.
Pros
- Does a very good job of keeping the Coffee warm.
- Does a good job of extracting the coffee flavor from the grounds.
- Filter does seem to make a difference in the quality of the coffee.
Cons
- There is a lot of water condensed inside the machine after brewing. This doesn't cause any sort of a functional issue but does make me wonder about long term durability.
- Uses #4 coffee filters instead of basket filters. This is probably one of the reasons why it does a good job of extracting the coffee flavor, whoever I fin
