ASUS A53E-EH91 Excellent value
By DaveH_SF [January 18, 2012, 2:12 am]We bought this as a gift for a 12 year old. For the price ($399), this is an excellent computer. It is fast enough for all basic tasks, including streaming high-def movies, and a has a practical combination of features.
Plusses:
USB 3.0 port.
The aluminum construction means the computer runs very cool and quiet. This is a laptop that is comfortable to use on your lap.
Good battery life.
Good sized hard drive.
One year accident coverage.
Jitter free video.
Minuses:
Touch pad sometimes oversensitive.
Letters on keyboard are hard to see in low light.
Number pad cramped, and no bump on the "5" key makes touch typing difficult
No volume wheel for the speaker -- you have to do this with software. No dedicated media control buttons.
Neutral:
Sound is tinny, but not that bad for a portable of this size.
